TAWA PULAO Easy and Authentic recipe

Today's recipe is going to be super duper delicious. It's one kind of street food but it's not snacks it's complete meal itself. I'm talking about TAWA PULAO 😋

The beauty of rice is that it can be turned into dishes that are sweet to savoury. It is the perfect foundation for any kind of dish.

Spicy and full of veggies, Tawa Pulao is a popular street food from India. It’s a simple dish which can be ready in minutes. Works perfectly for those days when you want something quick and easy for lunch or dinner! specially in these rainy days when you are not willing to cook too much, so this recipe is going to be super easy yet delicious too.


 So this pulao is made on a tawa and hence called tawa pulao. It’s spicy, loaded with veggies and really delicious! If you have been to Mumbai, chances are you must have eaten this dish. It might not be as popular as pav bhaji or vada pav but it’s still very popular there! One more good thing about this recipe is you don't need any side dish with these 'TAWA PULAO' you can serve it with simple raita or curd. Some people also like to have it with some ketchup.

Now I didn’t use a tawa to make this at home. In India the street vendors have really huge tawa on which they make this pulao however at home, I used my wok (kadahi) to make this. It tastes delicious either way. So you can also give it a try without worrying about TAWA. What all you need to make this delicious pulao, list is below.

Ingredients:

Rice -boiled

Onion-1 large

Capsicum -1/2

Potato-1 large

Peas-1/4 cup

Tomato-1large

Green chilli-1

Salt- to taste

Red chilli powder-1/3 tsp

Pavbhaji masala-2tbsp

Coriander powder-1tsp

Butter/ghee -2 tbsp

NOTE:

You can add variety of vegetables according to your preference.I have added  particular which I like to be added, but you always have choice to go with your taste. PROCESS:

First of all you need to boil the rice or you can use left over rice which is also good option. Now take a wok add butter or ghee.

2. Once ghee is hot enough, add cumin seeds. When cumin seeds starts crackle add onion, capsicum.


Saute it on high flame about couple of seconds. Why high flame? 

 Because I want that crunchiness of the vegetables remains as it as.

3. Now it's time to add chopped potatoes so they can be fried at same time. you can also add boiled potato but I like the fried ones, it gives the nice taste. If you are adding chopped potatoes just like me, make sure to cut into small pieces so they will not take much time to cook.

4. After potato We'll add some frozen peas, you can add other vegetables at this point,if you want to add in variety. Cook until potato turns soft.

5. Now add tomatoes, green chilli and all dry masalas.


6. Give it a nice stir, cover it with lid and cook for 2mins.

7. Remove the lid, stir it, you will see dry spices nicely absorbed by the vegetables now is the time to add rice . Put rice into the masala give it a good mix . Rice should be absolutely cold before adding into masala otherwise it will break while stirring. After mixing cover it with lid and cook for 2 to 3 minutes,so that rice can nicely pick up the aroma, colour and taste of all the ingredients that We have put into the dish.



8. Serve the hot tawa pulalo with raita or curd of your choice.
